My Favorite Workouts
My all time favorite workouts are anything that I can do outside. Mountain biking, hiking, training for Mt. Rainier, climbing the enchantments.
These are the things I love. But I am not going to talk about that stuff today. I want to share with you some of my favorite workouts either from the gym or workouts that I do in my home.
Lets start with the gym workouts. I really actually enjoy swimming for exercise. My gym has a pool, plus my parents live on a lake so either way summer or winter I am covered. Swimming just gives an overall great workout. I also like to use the gym for the stair machines. Since I love hiking and mountain biking the stair machine is one of the best workouts for those muscles. Sometimes it can be hard to find a place that has enough stairs to do stair exercises outside, so the gym is the optimal place for me. And of course all the big machines at the gym, but that goes without saying because that is what the gym is all about. A lot of people are into the classes at the gym, but I'm not as much into those. Although they are extremely effective and work great, its just not my cup of tea.
My Favorite at Home Workouts
I workout more at home then I do at the gym. My gym is a 20 minute drive each way, so that 40 minutes I would rather use to workout then just driving. The main reason for working out more at home is because I like it better. I like being in my own house with my person video trainer Tony Horton, with no one else around so I can focus and maximize my efforts.
Tony Horton is the man. I want a body like this guys. It is not huge like a body builder, but it is muscular and lean. I am not to keen on huge body builder type bodies, and neither was Tony. He shaped and toned his body to the way he liked it and it have made him one of the most sought after person trainers in the nation.
Tony Horton makes the videos that I love so much. First, the most intense, but the most effective is the P90X, which some people call the PX90. This workout is 90 days long and 1 hour everyday. He works out every muscle group you can think of. The whole idea of the P90X workout routine is what Tony calls muscle confusion. This means that he constantly does different workouts to use your muscles in different ways, which in turn means that there is never any plateaus in your workout regiment. You are always growing muscle and toning your body.
My other favorite from Tony Horton is his 10 minute trainer. Tony's 10 minute trainer workout is exactly what it sounds like. It is simply a 10 minute a day workout when you are extremely busy. Now I do not use this as my primary workout, but sometimes life gets extremely busy and I just do not have an hour to workout. There has been times that for 2 weeks I only used the ten minute trainer because that is all I had time to do. The key is that I continued my workouts. Even just 10 minutes a day helps.
I'll tell you right now that you will not find a better 10 minute workout then Tony's. It is short but extremely effective.
